Original publisher's beige paper wrappers with string binding. 6 1/4" x 9 3/4." Pages 273-400, complete. Four black-and-white illustrations, complete. Eight additional pages of advertisements for a variety of products and services in back. Printed on front cover: "Holden's Dollar Magazine, 1850. Containing Original Criticisms, Biographies, Sketches, Essays, Tales, Reviews, Poetry, &c., &c. Tastefully Illustrated. July." Pages are intact overall but have dampstaining and darkening throughout (text is still readable), chipping along edges (especially in lower-right corner on front), and splitting along spine. A Good copy. Holden's Dollar Magazine was an American magazine published from 1848-1851. It was also known as Holden's Magazine and the Dollar Magazine. Its emphasis was on literature, but the magazine also covered other subjects. Holden's Dollar Magazine ultimately merged with North American Miscellany to become the North American Miscellany and Dollar Magazine. This is the July 1950 (Vol. VI, No. I) issue of Holden's Dollar Magazine.
