Laid in are two typed letters on the Letterhead of the American Tobacco Co. regarding the credit of and shipping to a wholesale house in Jasper, Indiana. Also laid in is a holograph letter on the letterhead of the Claypool Hotel in Indianapolis, and is addressed to Mr. Shuford. The writer has learned that Mr. Shuford will be leaving American Tobacco and wishes him well in any new ventures he undertakes. In 1904 the American Tobacco Company in its present legal form came into being, but in point of time, American Tobacco goes back a good deal farther than its 1904 re-incorporation. Under a different corporate structure but with the same name, the Company goes back to 1890.
