Excellent copy of this scarce title on the settling of Liberia written by an African-American missionary ( he had previously written another book on his experiences in the Congo ). In red cloth Hardcovers with shiny gilt title imprinted on cover. Photographic frontis of the "Original House where the illustrious Lott Carey was born in 1780". Another frontis photograph in an oval frame of Mrs. Rachel Boone ( wife of the author) who was for five years a faithful missionary in Liberia. 152 pages, crisp and clean filled with many black and white photographs. Includes an introduction by the principal of Tuskegee Institute Alabama, R.R. Moton. Just the lightest trace of coverwear, else a beautiful and untouched copy.. Book Condition: Near Fine
