John Lane, The Bodley Head, London / John Lane Company, New York, 1911

Two volumes (complete). An assured set. 250 illustrations and 24 coloured. A most rigorous, even at times cocky, history of satire and the Corsican general. Both are benign and congenial. Imperial scarlet boards with gilt illustration. The boards have mild shelving wear about the edges and seams. The spine and adjacent territories are sunned. The spines are worn but still healthy. The boards have some storage wear to the back faces. Nonetheless, they are steady, sure, sound. The contents are amiable, sure. They have flurries of foxing here and there throughout. The illustrations are clear-faced. The pages are thick, hale, very confident, clean, clear, competent, assiduous. fk. Book Condition: Good. Binding: Hardcover. Jacket: No Jacket

First Edition.
