Former owner's inscription in black ink on front free endpaper. The inscription includes the owner's signature and is datelined 1902 in Camden, New York. "Press of Berwick & Smith, Boston" printed in the back. Pages and covers are very clean and intact. Spine has a small split along the fore-edge on the front cover. Excerpt from the Preface: "[This book] is an attempt to reclaim from unmerited oblivion the name and character of one of America's earliest, stanchest and most unselfish patriots--Jacob Leisler, Lieutenant Governor of the Province of New York, the first representative of the American people and one of the remote causes of American Independence.".
