8vo. 60pp extract, printed in double columns, illustrated with 53 characteristic Harper's engravings after drawings by the author, pages generally clean with very occasional insignificant foxing, salvaged from damaged issues of Harper's New Monthly Magazine, Volume XXVI, Nos. 152, 153, & 154, January / February / March, 1863. The author's three-part account of his tour. From the opening paragraph, "Not many years have passed since it was considered something of an achievement to visit Iceland. The traveler who had the hardihood to penetrate the chilly fogs of the north, and journey by the compass through a region of everlasting snows and desolating fires, could well afford to stay at home during the remainder of his life, satisfied with the reputation generally according him by his fellow-men." Browne would present a series of lectures in 1863 at the New York Historical Society based on his tour of Iceland, and the present articles would later be incorporated into the author's title, The Land Of Thor, Harper & Brothers, 1867.
