Collection of eight original store invoices and receipts printed and handwritten in black ink on blue paper. Some of the documents are entirely handwritten while others are a combination of handwritten and printed text. Measurements range between about 6 1/2" x 2 1/2" and 8 1/2" x 10 1/4." Documents are very clean and intact overall but some have fold lines (perhaps original), slight wrinkling, light age toning, the occasional mark, and chipping (the only significant chip is on the largest receipt or invoice measuring about 3 1/4" x 1 1/4," which only affects a few handwritten letters). Each document is Very Good and Very Good as an entire collection. William F. Brett, also known as William F. Brett & Bro., operated a dry goods store in Duxbury, Massachusetts in the 1840s and 1850s. These documents consists of four receipts or invoices issued to W. F. Brett and four receipts issued by W. F. Brett (some of which have company signatures). Two of the invoices are extensive listings of goods ordered by W. F. Brett, which include everything from almanacs to walking shoes.. Manuscript. Book Condition: Collectible-Very Good.
