Original black-and-white publicity photograph showing an up-close portrait of Carol Channing in-costume as Rose Gillray, the main character in The First Traveling Saleslady. Channing is shown singing mid-performance. No date, circa 1956. 8" x 10." "TS-CC-1" printed in lower-right corner on front, an abbreviation of "The First Traveling Saleslady" and the actress's initials. Typed description tipped in on back. Photo is clean and intact overall but has slight wrinkling throughout. A Very Good copy. Carol Channing (1921-2019) was an American actress, singer, dancer, and comedian. She is best-known for her comedic performances and for adding pronounced expressiveness to her characters. The description reads, "Carol Channing, Broadway comedienne, makes her film debut as Ginger Rogers' flighty girl friend in 'The First Traveling Saleslady,' RKO's comedy drama of the 1890's. The Arthur Lubin production stars Ginger Rogers, Miss Channing, Barry Nelson, David Brian and James Arness."
