On offer is a modest archive of manuscript letters and ephemera handwritten by or related to Clarissa Foster (later Farmer) of Billerica Massachusetts who was the noted Dr. Henry Blanchard's mother-in law and the mother of Sarah Blanchard. ***WITH RECENT NEWLY UNCOVERED LETTERS AND DOCUMENTS. The heart of the group are three [3] autograph letters signed [ALS] dated 1853, 1858 and 1860, from Clarissa to her granddaughter Rebecca, to Mrs. Faulkner and her daughter Sarah [wife of Dr. Henry Blanchard]. ***Newly uncovered letters and documents added to the original archive include: a letter by Jno. Farmer; a letter by Rachel French to Jeremiah French; Four [4] letters by Clarissa Farmer and two [2] receipts.*** Other items include: an envelope containing dried flowers from Foster Farmers' grave - Clarissa's husband; receipts for feathers, sugar tongs, china, looking glass, silver and buttons; 3 signed documents which are covenants of belief of the Christ Church in Billerica, Massachusetts, which Clarissa has annotated on the 1809 version and signed the two 1815 versions; a 3-1/4 page inventory of the estate of Timothy Foster, dated 1815 [Clarissa's father?]; the will of Dr. Ladoc Howe, copied and signed by Clarissa [Foster] Farmer, 2.5 pgs., approx. 9.5 x 7.75 inches; and a one [1] page ALS from Charles Roundy of Salem, Mass, 1837, asking for Sarah to visit. [Charles Roundy is listed as a very successful ship captain in "The Old Time Ships of Salem"]. Overall G+.. Manuscript. Book Condition: Good
