Clark (1830-1897) was a singer, songwriter and poet. He was born in New York and lived his later years on the West Coast of the U.S. He is best known for his songs that he wrote which were popular during the Civil War. These include: "Beautiful Hills" (1862); "Children of the Battlelfield" (1864); "Let Me Die with My Face to the Foe" (1864). Clark was an abolitionist and active in radical causes of the day..
