S olid dark brown (burgandy(? ) ) boards with gold illustrated hinges going front over spine to back. Back 'hinges' not gilt. Also on front is gold lilly, nymph and lettering. Front board is split at sp ine almost 3 inches from bottom up and 11/2 inches from top down. Top spine is torn across. End tips are missing. Edge wear all around. Front lower corner has cloth completely worn off from corner and over about one inch on bottom edge. Front top right corner and both rear board bottom corners are almost as bad. General light smudgies. Fep has paper paste up of private library of N. J. Thompson an d ffep has handwritten incription Lillian Christmas 1877 Kind Wishes W. E. Beach. Endpapers are of a linen type and haave some bubbles between leaves. All pages have light browning and book is still q uite together. All illustrations are counted for except 'Buried Lilies' as someone tore it out. Many tissues are also here. ; Book number is SVL36-55.
