Code of Instructions for Surveyors and Independent Postmasters 1911

His Majesty's Stationery Office, London, 1911

1251 pages. Note that pages 1043, 1057, 1074, 1075 have areas cut away. The book has been much used and inconsiderately stored. Nonetheless it is sturdy and stoic. A fascinating glimpse into the workings of an essential service and labour relations at the beginning of the 20th Century. The contents are interleaved with blank pages for notes - some of which have annotations. The cover are tenacious and resolute. There is wear to the edges and corners. The spine is much worn and is cracked along the front seam. The security of the book, however, is assured and sure. The papertrims are tanned and marked. Within, the pages are firm, clean, clear, tidy, very competent and diligent. Interestingly this title is not held at the National Archives at Kew but only at the Royal Mail archives. A fascinating and polite book. fk. Book Condition: Poor. Binding: Hardcover. Jacket: No Jacket
