Coogan, Jackie : Publicity Photograph "Jackie Coogan"

circa 1925. Publicity photo (5 x 7 inch) of his upper body with hands folded and printed signature across the bottom. Aged 10-12 in the photo, Jackie Coogan (1914-1984) was the most famous child actor in the silent films making over four million dollars in such films as THE KID (1921) and OLIVER TWIST (1922) and from the extensive advertising during the 1920s. He was famous for his pageboy haircut, oversize overalls and cap. His mother and step-father went through his money and Jackie had to sue them, only getting $126,000. This led to the famous California Child Actors Bill which forced the studios to set aside 15% of the child actors income. During hard times Charlie Chaplain helped him out with money. In WWII Jackie flew gliders in Burma. Later in life he became famous for his role of Uncle Fester in the TV show THE ADAMS FAMILY and various guest roles. He retired in the 1970s.. Book.
