Original publisher's light brown boards backed with brown cloth in an original light brown slipcase. Book measures 5 1/8" x 8 3/8." Slipcase measures 5 1/4" x 8 3/4." Sixty-three pages, complete. Slipcase and pages and covers of the book are very clean and intact. Binding is tight. Slipcase has a few marks and chipping at the top corners of the fore-edge. The label on the spine of the book has a minuscule split on the right edge. A Fine book in a Fine slipcase. Front colophon: "This edition, hand-set in Bulmer type, hand-printed on Whitchurch hand-made paper by the Stratford Press in New York, is limited to 765 copies. Copies numbered from 1 to 750, inclusive, are for sale. This copy is number 304." "304" handwritten in blue ink. James Fenimore Cooper (1759-1851) was an American writer. He wrote both fiction and non-fiction and is perhaps best-known for his historical novels. Dixon Ryan Fox (1887-1945) was an American writer, researcher, and professor. Fox taught at Columbia University from 1912 to about the mid-1930s. In his academic work, his emphasis was on sociology and the relations between society, economics, and politics in the United States.
