The book number applies to three volumes of this history of South Africa. Volume one is a reprint, volumes two (published 1913) and three (published 1919) are first editions. Volume one covers up to 1820; volume two 1820-1834; volume three 1834-1838. The covers of all three volumes have been marked and worn. Volume one in particular has suffered damage during storage. All covers have mottling, wear to the corners and extremities and to the head and feet of all three spines. The inside front cover of volume one has insect and storage damage and marking. There is a previous owner inscription on the frontispage. There is general foxing to the paper trim edges and front pages. For all three volumes the contents are in very good condition.
