John Cotton,a Birmingham, Worcestershire man,was a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects, who wrote most of these poems+songs etc.,at different intervals during a busy career,and in the scant and broken leisure of business travel,having their origin in the shifty retirement of a railway carriage.Few poets are artists and thus able to illustrate their poems by pictures as in this volume - the etchings with both delicate and powerful effects,are of landscape,woodland and village scenes.
