COZETTE PARKER : 1931 ORIGINAL SCRAPBOOK AND DIARY CREATED AND COMPILED BY THE DAUGHTER OF MINNESOTA AVIATION PIONEER FRED PARKER

4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. On offer is a sensational 1931 - 1933 diary like scrapbook created and compiled by Cozette Parker, whose father Fred Parker was a monoplane builder, aviator and aircraft designer. Mr. Parker is a well known person of Minnesota aviation history: he built and flew numerous planes usually crashing, his sister commented," He has broken every other bone in his body except his spine." In 1910 the Minnesota State Fair offered Fred the opportunity to exhibit and fly his plane. Besides the flying aspects of the scrapbook there are some sensational surprises as she documents her life in those years: an Opening day Western Minnesota Football League football game souvenir card; famous Jazz Violinist, co writer of Sweet Georgia Brown, Ben Bernie's autograph; pages of photos of her, mom, brother and friends, deco paper memorabilia, wonderful Christmas gift tag - airplane themed, photos of her cousins, high school girl stories of dating mishaps (like the time she told two boys she's see them on the same night) girl world questions, comments, joys and confusion and lots on her brother Farnham. She plays a trick on him, he sends her a letter (included in scrapbook) to secretly send him money, and she obliges but sent the letter with money on his rival's stationery which she reports gleefully! The scrapbook has early 1930s history of Minnesota, Illinois, Wisconsin and Anderson Indiana. Her birthday was March 24, in 1932 she is 18 as she records her adventures in this scrapbook and some reminisces. Attended many high schools in Illinois - Lockport, Plainfield Ill, Marengo, Kantaka, Gurnee, St. Paul, Minn. also in Indiana and Michigan and Wisconsin. This scrapbook is mostly from Illinois, Steven's Point Wisconsin, Lockport + Plainfield Ill. and Anderson Indiana. She reveals she is in love "for real this time," with Ed Fenske, she is "working shows" (air shows we assume). She loves her brother (lots of photos of him and her mom) The scrapbook contains approx. 44 pgs of ephemera from school, original photos, clippings, and great deco Valentine, party favors, Stevens Point Wisconsin High School ephemera, etc. We note that the family undergoes a house fire during the writing of this diary-scrapbook and there is a clipping describing them as a well known Aviation family. The 8½" x 11½" is overall G.. Manuscript. Book Condition: Good
