Black-and-white plates including one frontispiece of Samuel Curwen, complete. Two additional pages in back; one page includes a poem by the president of King's (Columbia College), a Loyalist who fled from New York to England; the other page reprints the New York Confiscation Act. Errata also tipped in back. Pages and covers are very clean and intact overall. Binding is tight. Covers have edge and corner wear. Pages are age-toned. Head and tail of spine are bumped. A Very Good copy. Contains the personal writings of Samuel Curwen as well as brief biographies (some no more than a paragraph) of other notable Loyalists and historical figures. Samuel Curwen (1715-1802) was an American Loyalist, merchant, and lawyer from Salem, Massachusetts. During the American Revolution, Curwen fled to England, fearing for his safety. He is perhaps best-known for his detailed diary and other handwritten materials which show the American Loyalist perspective. After becoming disillusioned with Parliment's policies and attitude toward the American colonies, Curwen returned to his home in Salem.. Book. Book Condition: Very Good. Binding: Hardcover
