All of their published books up until Dorris' sensational suicide were dedicated to each other. The cause of his suicide is well-known, and what he allegedly committed before it inexcusable, making an objective and fair appraisal of his large body of work, which nevertheless has moments of great beauty and crystalline prose, difficult at best and (perhaps) impossible at worst.
