London: John Murray, 1864. xix, 76 pp. (numbered to 78). 8vo., half red gilt morocco over plain grey cloth boards. with 68 of the 74 half-stereo albumen prints. Langdon Warner's copy with a few notes in pencil in his hand. Boards and leather worn, scraped; top of spine chipped 1 1/2 in. Overopened at title page. Pages are stiff card with mounted albumen photo illustrations from stereo- half negatives rather than reduced photo copies which was often the case in this period. All of Fergusson's writings on Indian architecture are important, this was his favourite and most deeply understood subject. Tissue guards intact. The caves of Ajunta and Ellora. Photos small, most about 3 1/4 x 3 in., but lovely, in excellent condition. Gernsheim, Incunabula, 211 and 212 (variant titles). Rare. As is with 68 photos only.
