First Edition (first printing). 8vo. 344pp. Dark blue cloth lettered in gold at the spine and with a blind border to the upper board. Top edge dust soiled. Cloth a little marked, with some light rubbing to two or three extremities. Edges, endpapers and several dozen preliminary leaves quite lightly spotted, and with a little further occasional mostly marginal spotting. An inch-long slit to head of the front hinge, but the binding still sound. Several small areas of surface abrasion to the front pastedown where it would appear a bookplate has been removed, and a former owner signature neatly inked to the front free endpaper. A good copy. No dust wrapper. The author's third book and second novel, which he subsequently distanced himself from and was never reprinted.
