Spine band is frayed at head and tail with a slit for one-third of its length along the back hinge from the tail. Gift inscription to half title page. Front hinge is cracked at the title-page and the paperblock is loose. Illustration at page 50 is unattached and the final illustration (Delagoa Bay) at page 206 is missing.
