Two volume set, each about 700 pages. Vol. I has the front hinge broken at the inside showing the mesh binding material; (paste-down endpaper torn from the free endpaper) outside at cloth binding remains attached and in good shape. The back hinge is not damaged, the page block is intact and has no loose pages, though it does have a wave from being stored oddly. The dust jackets of both books are glued down to the inside covers -- apparently as published -- that of Vol. I is torn half way down spine, both are quite sunned. Vol. II: book is Near Fine with a Good dust jacket, both books are unmarked in any way, text paper is somewhat age-toned. Publisher's Note in Vol. I reads: "The present work is ... an attempt to bring within easy reach of all English speaking people a translation of the Hymns of the Rgveda, which, while aiming especially at close fidelity to the letter and the spirit of the original, shall be as readable and intelligible as the nature of the subject itself. This translation is greatly based on the commentary of the famous scholiast Sayan, and is the only metrical rendering in English of this immortal scripture. ...
