8vo. 466pp, green cloth with silver lettering at spine, and silver-embossed facsimile signature at cover, map endpapers, light general wear, minor soiling / foxing at some of the text block edges, faded damp-sttain at rear board, with two faded white smudges noted as well, still clean and bright overall, in dust jacket that includes a list of Hemingway's works on the reverse, a few very shallow chips at spine ends, and two creases at rear panel; faults noted in pictures. This is the true first issue of the author's posthumous novel. The book club edition includes the $10.00 price on the front flap and is sometimes confused with the first edition, which is much less common, particularly the first issue; the points of the first edition include the list of titles on the reverse of the dust jacket, the notice A-9.70(V) on the copyright page, the (V) of which identifies the first issue, with later issues having a different letter, and the lack of a Book of the Month Club blind stamp at the bottom edge of the rear board..
