Collection of two original printed promotional ephemera from Hood Rubber Products Company, Incorporated, namely, a letter and advertisement. Black lettering on beige paper. No date, circa 1920s. 8 1/2" x 11." Two pages (letter and ad printed on one side), complete. A few black-and-white illustrations of shoes, complete. Letter and ad are virtually pristine and intact except for a small smudge on each of their right edges and two horizontal fold lines (perhaps original) and slight age toning on each. Near Fine copies. A collection of two printed promotional ephemera, a letter and advertisement, from Hood Rubber Products Co. The letter is addressed to "Hood Canvas Dealers" from the Hood Rubber Products Co. In the letter, the company recommends that dealers design window displays that entice potential customers to come into their stores so they may buy Hood canvas shoes. The company adds that dealers may participate in the upcoming Hood Canvas Window Display Contest. The ad shows black-and-white illustrations of different footwear offered by the Hood Rubber Products Co. for dealers to display at their stores. The company clarifies that if dealers are interested in displaying other shoes not pictured on the ad, they may write the Watertown Advertising Department for an additional list of Hood rubber and canvas footwear. The Hood Rubber Company was founded in 1896 as a rubber and shoe manufacturer by Frederic C. Hood and Arthur N. Hood in Watertown, Massachusetts. In 1929, the Hood Rubber Co. became a subsidiary of the B. F. Goodrich Company. Hood and B. F. Goodrich brands of shoes continued to be manufactured until 1969 when Hood's Watertown plant closed..
