Scottish historian John Hill Burton (1809-1881) writes a series of essays; "A Vision of Mighty Book Hunters", "The Prowler and the Auction-Haunter" and others on book-buying and 'book hunters'. This edition features an ornate gilt vignette on the cover showing a scholarly individual scanning a book and shelves.
