With the contemporary ownership signature of Rowland Thirlmere, the non-de-plume of Lancastrian poet and author John Walker, to the front free endpaper, and the visiting card of his wife laid-in. An early and most uncommon collection of essays by Middleton Murry, penned for separate publication between 1916-19, and collected here to illustrate the evolution of his thoughts and criticisms as the Great War progressed.
