JOHN MINTON. Frank Sargeson : That Summer and Other Stories. With a dust wrapper design by John Minton

John Lehmann, London, 1946

First Edition (first printing). 8vo. vii, 192pp. Blue cloth lettered and ruled in gold at the spine. Top- and fore edge spotted. A very good copy in non-price-clipped dust wrapper featuring a double-spread design by John Minton; the wrapper lightly creased, chafed, rubbed and soiled. Twenty-one stories by the noted New Zealand writer: his first collection to be published in the UK (despite considerable success in his homeland, Sargeson is perhaps best known for his mentorship of Janet Frame, who lived in a former army hut on his property between April 1955 to July 1956, shortly after her discharge from the Seacliff Lunatic Asylum, during which time she wrote her first novel, 'Owls Do Cry'). The third book issued under the Lehmann imprint - quite uncommon, and more so with the Minton dust wrapper.. Book. Book Condition: Very Good. Binding: Hardcover. Jacket: Good
