The author gives a history of Haiti from the time Christopher Columbus landed there to the present in 1920. Written from an American perspective. Emphasis is placed on Haiti's political unrest and the occupation of the United States. Page 512 shows a reprinted photograph of a Siberian woman, which may accompany an article in a later issue..
