Jones gained recognition for his talent as a sculptor in Ohio and surrounding states and was eventually commissioned by Colonel R. M. Moore and others to sculpt a bust of Abraham Lincoln. In this autobiographical article, Jones recounts the time when he made this bust of Lincoln from life at a studio in Springfield, Illinois in the winter of 1860-1861 and other little-known Lincoln episodes. In 1863 or 1864, Jones made one other sculpture of Lincoln, a bust in bronze, also modeled from life. Two of the illustrations show Jones's sculptures of Lincoln. The other illustration is a portrait of Jones. This article was first published in the Sacramento Weekly Union on November 4, 1871.. Book. Book Condition: Very Good. Binding: Soft cover
