Original color map of Glen Esk, Glen Clove, and Glen Shee in Scotland. Most of the map is in black-and-white, but there is light brown shading to show places of elevation and light green over Lunan Bay. No date, circa 1890s. 14" x 10 1/4." Map has vertical fold lines and a horizontal fold line, which may be original. Formerly in a book, a possible folding map. Map is very clean and intact except for a few wrinkles, slight age toning, a small closed tear (measuring about 1") almost entirely limited to left margin (barely affects a minuscule portion of printed map area), and possible clipping limited to left margin. A Very Good copy. Map shows the region of Glen Esk, Glen Clova, and Glen Shee. A few towns are labeled in bold font including Aberdeen, Kincardine, Forfar, and Perth. Cities, routes, and natural features are shown. Scale of distance in English Miles, neatline, and legend denoting "Main Roads" included. Engraved by W. & A. K. Johnston, an engraving firm founded in 1826 by brothers William Johnston (1802-1888) and Alexander Keith Johnston (1804-1871) in Scotland. Published by the famous publishing company, A. & C. Black, which was founded in 1807 by Adam Black (1784-1874) in Edinburgh. A. & C. Black is still in business to this day.. Map. Book Condition: Collectible-Very Good.
