Original color map of several lochs in Scotland including Loch Lomond, Loch Long, and Loch Fyne. Map colors are light green and brown. No date, circa 1890s. 9" x 6 1/2." Map has vertical fold lines, which may be original. Formerly in a book, a possible folding map. Map is very clean and intact except for a few wrinkles and slight age toning. A Very Good copy. Map shows, from west to east, Loch Ryne, Loch Long, and Loch Lomond, which are interspersed among the Cowal peninsula. Cities, routes, and natural features are shown. Many of the geographic features are labeled. Scale of distance and neatline included. Engraved by W. & A. K. Johnston, an engraving firm founded in 1826 by brothers William Johnston (1802-1888) and Alexander Keith Johnston (1804-1871) in Scotland. Published by the famous publishing company, A. & C. Black, which was founded in 1807 by Adam Black (1784-1874) in Edinburgh. A. & C. Black is still in business to this day.. Map. Book Condition: Collectible-Very Good.
