Original map of North Sutherland in Scotland. Map is black-and-white with accents of brown to indicate points of elevation. No date, circa 1890s. 13 1/2" x 6 1/2." Map has vertical fold lines, which may be original. Formerly in a book, a possible folding map. Part of publisher's information is cut off. Map is very clean and intact except for a few wrinkles, slight age toning, and a closed tear measuring 1 1/4" in the upper-left corner (does not affect major map features). A Very Good copy. Map shows North Sutherland in Scotland. Cities, routes, and natural features, such as lochs and rivers, are shown. Neatline included. Engraved by W. & A. K. Johnston, an engraving firm founded in 1826 by brothers William Johnston (1802-1888) and Alexander Keith Johnston (1804-1871) in Scotland. Published by the famous publishing company, A. & C. Black, which was founded in 1807 by Adam Black (1784-1874) in Edinburgh. A. & C. Black is still in business to this day.. Map. Book Condition: Collectible-Very Good.
