8vo. 23 un-numbered pages with 12 full plates with 22 hand-coloured engravings with blank versos. Yellow sewn card covers with the title and imprint enclosed within a single ruled border and an out floral decorated border. Inscribed John Rowell Bourne 1853 to the upper cover but the one shilling price has been inked over and earlier than 1853. Darton and Clark [1836-1845] seemed to cease around 1845. William Darton set up the firm in 1787. RARE iten with no copies in Copac or WorldCAt. Only one [later] copy recorded at auction [Sotheby's 1976 but with a different cover and 'Darton and Co' imprint and no other copy apparently on the market.
