Signed by Rockwell Kent in black ink on front free endpaper. Printed facsimile signature of Rockwell Kent also on back colophon. Both signatures appear as "Rockwell Kent." Original publisher's pictorial blue and white cloth binding. Illustration of a mountain landscape on front and back. White lettering on blue spine. 8 1/4" x 10 3/4." Sixty-four pages and eighty-six additional pages of illustrations by the artist, complete. Many black-and-white illustrations and one color frontispiece, complete. Three tipped-in magazine or newspaper clippings on front pastedown (portrait of the artist), back pastedown (example of artist's work), and a back flyleaf (newspaper clipping referencing the artist). Pages are very clean and intact except for minuscule age toning. Covers are clean and intact overall but have some spotting (surface chipping) and foxing or darkening on front, back, and spine. Binding is tight. A Very Good copy. A beautiful book signed by Rockwell Kent (1882-1971), an American painter, printmaker, author, and illustrator. As noted in the title, this book features the writings and artwork of Rockwell Kent. The book begins with a collection of Kent's essays. The essay titles are "Of Aesthetics (1928)," "Foreword (1924)," "Personal (1928)," "Of Culture (1927)," "Introduction to 'Fifty Prints' (1927)," "Of Critics (1929)," "A Solicited Introduction for the Art Directors' Annual (1928)," "The Racket (1929)," "A Solicited Introduction to a Book on Advertising (1928)," "Free Art in an Iron Age (1927)," "Adam and Eve (1927)," "Our Museum (1928)," "The National Gallery of Contemporary Art (1926)," and "Apple Jack (1931)." The essays are followed by "A Check-List of the Wood-Engravings and Lithographs of Rockwell Kent," the latter of which also includes a list of books containing illustrations and articles by Kent. The book concludes with a collection of illustrations depicting "Drawings, Woodcuts, Lithographs and Paintings by Rockwell Kent." Many of these illustrations are full-page; all are in black-and-white. The frontispiece is a full-page color illustration of one of Kent's artworks.
