Brownish red binding, gilt lettering/illustrations, decorative black borders with stars on top cover, decorative black borders on rear cover and spine. Binding features beautiful in-blind lettering and designs with black coloring and gilt added - featuring American flags, Liberty Bell, Eagle, Main Exhibition Building, and more. Internally: Two frontispieces with tissue. Over 33 fine engravings of buildings and scenes in the exhibition, including fold-outs throughout. Condition of binding: Expected shelf wear and wear to corners, light age abrasion/rubbing. Front/rear hinges are cracked, some separation of binding from spine. Former owners' names and city/state penned on endpapers. Several old damp stains and soiling, signs of old bug infestation (but not significant), creases/fold marks and tears (mostly to fold-outs), and lightly age toned. Surprisingly, for an antiquarian book, the textblock is in very good condition. Text is clear and very readable, illustrations are bright and clear. Not a former library book. Overall, this massive antiquarian work is in Good Plus condition. Very collectible and historical Americana.
