Volume 1, Number 1 through Volume XI, No 1. (May 1927-1940). Eighty-eight of 120 issues present. William McDevitt was a San Francisco book dealer and man of letters. He issued a monthly publication under the three different names listed above that was part book catalog, part newsletter and part magazine. Each issue ran between four and eight pages. In the publication McDevitt both sells and comments on books, especially California authors such as Bret Harte, Ambrose Bierce, Jack London, George Sterling, Upton Sinclair, etc. He also passes along bibliographic points, literary mysteries and insider gossip.
