In this oral history, McMillen recounts the events of her life, as well as those surrounding her ancestors, immediate family, and relatives. She begins by telling the beginnings of her ancestors around the early 1800s with a brief mention of how some of her "ancestors had been Reverends and Sirs from before the time of Columbus." McMillen recounts how some of her ancestors were originally from several states to the east, including Kentucky, Iowa, New Jersey, and New York, and how they eventually made their way west. McMillen includes stories of conflict between white settlers and Native Americans/Indigenous Peoples but also relays a story in which her father, John O. Courtright, became friends with several Native Americans after being approached by them. There are other stories McMillen relays about frontier life and the Old West including a time when her father was part of posse to hunt a group of criminals who had shot a man during a "drunken spree." McMillen concludes her history with discussion of her career, what she did in her later life, and her children.. Book. Book Condition: Fine. Binding: No Binding
