Two additional pages of advertisements for other books in the back. Front and back pastedowns have advertisements for other books printed on them. Former ownership signatures in pencil and black ink on a front flyleaf facing the verso of the front free endpaper: "Leo Cardona." Pages are very clean and intact. Covers are very clean and intact overall. Slight wear to the corners and head and tail of spine. Front joint has slight cracking at the bottom, measuring about 2 1/2." Excerpt from the Preface: "'Sea and Shore' is the sixth and last of the Onward and Upward Series, in which Phil Farringford, in company with his friend Larry Grimsby, has some experience as a traveller. The story includes the cruise of the Blanche, a first-class yacht, which goes to the Bermuda Islands, across the Atlantic, up the Baltic, and along the shores of the Mediterranean. The various 'tramps' of these young gentlemen are in the Bermudas, in Norway, Sweden, on the Rhine, and in other parts of Europe, though the volume is in no sense a book of travel." William Taylor Adams (1822-1897) was an American author and scholar who served on the Massachusetts House of Representatives.
