Bulletin No. 54, the December 1938 issue of the quarterly Bulletin of the Abraham Lincoln Association. The Abraham Lincoln Association (ALA) was founded in 1908 as the Lincoln Centennial Association. The ALA is still active to this day as a scholarly forum that focuses on the study of Abraham Lincoln. This issue contains the following article, "Lincoln and the Black Hawk War," by Harry E. Pratt, who was also one of the Bulletin's editors. As suggested by the title, the article discusses Lincoln's three-month military service as Captain during the Black Hawk War. The article includes a chronological list of events pertaining to the war and Lincoln's activities during the war.
