Original publisher's green cloth binding with gilt lettering on front cover and spine and a gilt illustrated portrait of William Dempster Hoard on the front cover. A biography of William Dempster Hoard (1836-1918), Governor of Wisconsin and a key figure in Wisconsin's dairy industry. Hoard is often called "the father of the Wisconsin dairy industry" due to his call for high standards, safety for consumers, scientific approaches to dairying, and other reformations to the industry as a whole. Hoard also established the first national dairy magazine, Hoard's Dairyman, which is still published to this day.
