Vivaldi offers a fundamental contribution to the history of the flute, to its repertory and the development of its technique with 92 works composed for this particular instrument. The essay clearly shows the diffusion of the flute in Italy at the beginning of the 18th century and analyses each of Vivaldi?s operas specifying both the locality and the date.
