SEAMAN JAMES PALMER 1st Div. BM 2/c : 1943 - 1946 UNUSUAL ORIGINAL MANUSCRIPT LOG BOOK AND 'SCORE CARD' OF A NAVAL SEAMAN ABOARD THE USS BILOXI

12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. On offer is an unusual offbeat relic of World War II Americana being the personal diary - and in some ways the personal 'score card' - of Navy seaman James Palmer 1st Div. BM 2/c. Terrible spelling aside, in 31 or so pages, Seaman Palmer, aboard the USS Biloxi, a light cruiser assigned to screen the Carrier groups during the Pacific campaign writes a great deal of interesting detail and milestones noted: Ports of Call, number of battle attacks, ship mates with autographs, air attacks, island attacks, planes shot down, ships lost+++ Some interesting notes include: 'March 6th 1943 My people will never know for 14 days I did not sleep I was on g.q with my ribbs broke. I am in bad shap I know but I can't let the gun crew down now.' And then, thankfully 'March 14th I feel better now.' Some interesting poems and a few pages of addresses back home make for an interesting yet different relic of World War II. Overall Fair.. Book Condition: Fair. Binding: Hard Cover
