A lovely copy of this scarce First French Edition of the American Poet Alan Seeger's letters and poetry bound in 1/2 brown cloth and decorated marbled boards with gilt lettering on black spine label.T ext in French. "Ecrits durant la guerre reunis par son pere et traduits par Odette Raimondi-Matheron". With sepia-toned frontis photo of the young poet taken while he was a 22-year old student at Harv ard. Six years later he had his rendevouz with death at Belloy-en-Santerre on July 4, 1916. The poetry he wrote while he was at the front was not published until 1917, a year after his death. 222 page s of letters and journals followed by 89 pages of his poems in English and French translation printed on the opposite side.
