Frontis. sketch portrait of the author facing a dedication page to the authors wife celebrating fourteen years as Minister at the Surrey Chapel, Blackfriars Road, London. Several photographic plates of worthies of the church bound-in. A lovely rare copy of the second edition with red buckram bevelled edge cloth binding. Gilt titles to the soine and front board and a small gilt block of the front of the Primative Methodist Chapel. In 1881 the building was rebuilt and refitted to become commercial premises. THe Illustrated London News reported itsending in May 1881 'The demolition of the well-known circular meeting-house, or Dissenting Chapel in Blackfriars Road, Southgate, removes yet another familiar landmark of London's social and religious history'..
