Includes a detailed account of the execution of Louis XVI. Suard (1731-1817) was a moderate Royalist, in favor of the Revolution and a parliamentary monarchy. For his views he was proscribed and had to leave France in 1797. In 1803 he returned, became permanent secretary of the Academie Francaise, and started a new journal.
