Signature on beige card by Henry George Vennor in light brown ink. No date, circa 1860s-1880s. 3 1/2" x 2 1/2." Card reads: "Henry G. Vennor, Montreal, Canada." Card and signature are very clean and intact. Henry George Vennor (1840-1884) was a Canadian geologist, ornithologist, and meteorologist. As a college student, he made a fossil collection and also wrote papers and did research on local bird life. Vennor worked for the Geological Survey of Canada where he researched and collected information on various rock types and their mineral and metal compositions. These surveys also required that Vennor make detailed topographic maps. Vennor made many contributions to the field of science in the form of various papers and publications, including his Vennor's Almanacs in which he accurately predicted the weather based on past weather patterns..
