With a frontispiece and thirty-one splendid colour tipped-in plates, plus an additional twenty-eight black & white reproductions. Corners a little rubbed and creased, with a touch of fairly superficial chipping to the wrapper spine panel ends and several small areas of light miscellaneous staining to the rear board. A very good copy. Jean Bourdichon served as official court painter to four successive French kings: Louis XI, Charles VIII, Louis XII, and François I. As court painter, he designed stained glass windows, coins, and gold plate, illuminated manuscripts, and executed independent paintings. This issue of 'Verve' is devoted to illuminated manuscripts and reproduces Bourdichon's contributions to the Latin manuscript "Les Heures D'Anne De Bretagne", held at the Bibliotheque Nationale, Paris..
