The essay was written by Edward Wagenknecht (1900-2004), an American literary critic and teacher, while he taught at the University of Washington (1925-1943). Issued as part of the University's "Chapbook Series." Glassine dust wrapper has an original illustrated sticker closing the top flap on the back of the wrapper. Some pages unopened.
