George Redway, London. 1887. First Edition. Hardback. No DW. Blue cloth, gilt and illustrated with symbols to front board including Dee's monas hierogyphica, mercury and the Rosicrucian jewel. Illustrated. The spine has a slight lean and is a little sunned, the boards are very slightly soiled and are rubbed and a little worn at extremities. The endpapers are browned, there is a very small portion lacking from top margin of half-title and title pages near spine, inner hinges are visible but overall the contents are remarkably clean and sound. A lovely copy of a very SCARCE item. A.E. Waite's account of the history of The Rosicrucians and hence alchemists including accounts from the 17th century german pamphlets through to 19th century groups but prior to his own known direct involvement in the Golden Dawn.
